Hello Renata, thanks for reading and commenting! By “job in hand” I mean an agency whose client has approved a translation project, but the agency doesn’t have anyone to do it. This can happen when their usual translators are unavailable or because the project is specialist. That is when the project managers are actively looking for someone and under time pressure. So they publish adverts on ProZ and the like, hoping to assign the job quickly.
