The primary focus is a systematized analysis of ATA鈥檚 grading system error categories, where attendees will look at a list of frequent errors accompanied by examples. You will learn to approach the translation revision process with a practical, critical perspective and discover handy strategies for preventing and detecting errors鈥攌ey skills for improving translation quality on the exam and beyond.

We will also cover the optimal preparation methods and useful test-taking strategies, as well as the technical and logistical aspects and specific restrictions of the current remote exam format, to maximize your chances of success and improve your overall translation competence.

In this course, you will:

1. Become familiar with the relevant aspects of ATA鈥檚 exam, including how it is graded.

About the Presenter

Diego Mansilla, PhD, is the director of the Spanish-English Translation Program at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He has been a grader (English>Spanish) for ATA鈥檚 Certification Program since 2016. His areas of research are translation pedagogy, collaboration in translation, and online education. He is an ATA-certified English>Spanish translator with more than 20 years of experience.
